feels like I'm starting all over again
I wasnt there the minute it happened. I wasn't even in the state when we got the call. The call we'd been waiting so long for but the important part is that it did. It did and we got our baby girl and she's healthy and happy when she has everything just her way. She's going to keep me on my toes for the rest of my life but that doesn't worry me.
It's so hard to thank someone for something so huge, someone you're never supposed to meet. I dont know what she looks like but I'd like to thank her so much for giving all three of us the greatest gift we could imagine. She's so smart. And so pretty, big blue eyes just stairing up at us but she knows whos holding her, she can feel the voices or tones. She can tell by the beard whos got her, the way her fingers reach for your chin and curl into that fist, that little bit of disapointment if she doesn't find Christian. Babies pick up on vibes or at least ours does. She can tell if I'm nervous and gets angry with me until I figure it out and calm down.
Being a dad is something so changing all the books have that right but none of them tell you just how it changes. A lyricist by trade, I'm not sure I can tell you yet either. She's got both our new albums memorized, she's our number one fangirl. I mean it, she'll cry before the last song's even done knowing it's over. Maybe it's because she was with us. She was with us while we were making these records. I knew she was and they were all for her.
Penelope Cadence, I don't care what you think about the name Jensen, it's perfect. It fits her pefectly. Our little Penny. She's got her first gig this weekend, meet and greet with all the family. We're exhausted and I'm not quite ready to let her out of my arms yet but I always want her to know how big and loving her family is.
Not long after that she's goign out on her first tour. Gonna go home and see Gran and Grandaddy Kane. Papa and Nana Carlson are over pretty much everyday still. It feels pretty great to make them so proud. I haven't even done anything yet but it feels like maybe I finally got it all figured out.
There was a lock inside and I found the key, just took somebody to turn it to figure out thats what it needed. I never knew the part of me that was missing. For so long I filled it with a million different things and convinced myself it wasn't this easy, it wasn't this but it was. I can't deny that now. I've got an angel, a real live angel that depends on me. I've never been better.
